About Me

I have always looked for the art in life.

When my parents insisted I go to college instead of becoming an artist, I decided to get a degree in mechanical engineering. I attended North Carolina State University and worked part time until I graduated. I picked mechanical engineering because I found circuits and mechanisms fascinating and I knew that college offered a unique opportunity for structured learning in those areas. I had been working in restaurants since I was 16, and by the end of my sophomore year of college I had been promoted to shift lead at the local pizza restaurant, across the street from my first dorm. I work hard and put myself into everything I do.

A little more about me

I have had opportunities to fill many roles both professionally and personally.

After high school I took a gap year and went to the Dominican Republic where I did volunteer work at an orphanage. During university, I joined NC State's chapter of Engineers Without Borders. Many of my peers were drawn to the projects based outside of the US, but having spent so much of my life moving from country to country, I felt drawn to the local community. I joined and then ended up leading the team focused on local projects. During my time there I helped lead the design and manufacture of a demonstration irrigation system for a local elementary school. I oversaw and coordinated four smaller task-specific teams, and I organized lab-style trainings to ensure all the stedents had the basic knowledge to work together effectively.

My favorite artform is poetry, and I write poems regularly. I practice photography, painting, and graphic design. I also enjoy spending time with my dog Piper and playing the piano or guitar to relax. I put myself into everything that I do, so I am selective about what projects I choose to work on.
